In today’s fast-paced world, stress has become an almost inevitable part of life. Many people carry emotional tension in their bodies without even realising it—through anxiety, overwhelm, self-doubt, or persistent physical tightness.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), often referred to as “tapping,” offers a simple yet powerful way to reduce stress and restore emotional balance. As one of the many tools I incorporate into my holistic therapy sessions, EFT stands out for its versatility, gentleness, and effectiveness.

What is EFT?
EFT is a therapeutic technique that combines elements of modern psychology with principles derived from acupressure and traditional Chinese medicine. It involves gently tapping with the fingertips on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on a thought, emotion, memory, or physical sensation.
The idea behind EFT is that emotional distress can create disruptions in the body’s energy system. By combining focused awareness with tapping, EFT helps calm the nervous system, release emotional intensity, and create a greater sense of inner safety and balance.
Unlike many approaches that require long discussions or reliving painful experiences in depth, EFT can often help people process emotions in a gentler and more manageable way.
How EFT Helps Reduce Stress
Stress affects both the mind and body. You may notice it as racing thoughts, tension in the shoulders, shallow breathing, fatigue, irritability, or difficulty sleeping.
EFT works on multiple levels simultaneously:
The tapping process helps regulate the nervous system and calm the body’s stress response.
Focusing on the issue brings awareness to emotions that may have been suppressed or ignored.
Combining the two can reduce emotional intensity and create a feeling of relief and clarity.
Research suggests that EFT may help reduce cortisol levels—the body’s main stress hormone—while promoting a calmer emotional state. Many people report feeling lighter, more grounded, and emotionally clearer even after a short session.
What Can EFT Help With?
EFT is a highly versatile technique and may support people experiencing:
Stress and overwhelm
Anxiety and worry
Emotional blocks
Low confidence or self-esteem
Fear and phobias
Limiting beliefs
Emotional eating or cravings
Physical tension linked to stress
Minor past traumas or unresolved emotional experiences
Because EFT is adaptable, sessions can be tailored to your specific needs and goals.
Integrating EFT with Other Holistic Approaches
One of the unique aspects of my work is the integrative and intuitive approach I take to healing and personal transformation.
EFT can be used as a standalone tool, but it also blends beautifully with other modalities such as:
Hypnotherapy
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
Havening Techniques
BWRT
Reiki and energy healing
Meditation and mindfulness practices
For example, EFT may be used at the beginning of a session to calm anxiety and create emotional safety before moving into deeper transformational work. It can also help reinforce positive shifts by reducing resistance and emotional overwhelm.
Why I Love Using EFT in Sessions
What makes EFT so powerful is its simplicity.
It gives people a practical tool they can continue using in everyday life—whether before a difficult conversation, during moments of anxiety, or when feeling emotionally overwhelmed.
Many clients appreciate that EFT feels gentle and empowering. Rather than fighting emotions or trying to suppress them, tapping encourages a compassionate acknowledgment of what is being felt while helping the nervous system move into a calmer state.
Over time, this can help create greater emotional resilience, self-awareness, and inner balance.
